Aviv Tanzania Ltd is a subsidiary of Olam International operating the largest Arabica coffee plantation in Songea District (Lipokela Village), Tanzania is seeking to recruit competent, committed, enthusiastic and self-motivated candidates for the following posts:



Job Title: Agronomist (1 position)

Job Purpose: Supervised by the General Manager- Coffee, he/she will be responsible for providing excellent and timely advice on all aspects related to Aviv Coffee yields, production, rain pattern and other affecting issues related to the position through regular visit, field inspections of crop and soil.

Key Duties and Responsibilities for the Position

  • Carry out field inspections by conducting studies to identify soil or coffee crop problems and provide immediate reports to management during the growing season.
  • Provide advice and assistance to coffee farmers on behalf of Aviv Tanzania Ltd in planning crop rotations, crop variety selection, review soil test reports and develop fertilizer management and seeding plans.
  • Carry soil sampling, testing and interpretation and sharing knowledge about soil fertility and fertilizer management, weeds, registered herbicides, diseases, registered fungicides, insect posts and registered insecticides for the coffee crop.
  • Any other duty as maybe assigned.


Job Specifications and Skills Requirements


  • Applicants must have a Bachelor of Science degree in Agriculture; specializing in soil, plant or crop science or agronomy with at least 5 years experience.
  • Knowledge related to coffee crop shall be of added advantage.
  • Must have rich experience of working in field with the farmers.
  • Familiar with soil sampling, testing and interpretation and knowledgeable about soil fertility and fertilizer management, weeds, registered herbicides, diseses, registered fungicides, insect pests and registered insecticides for the coffee crop.

Job Title: Entomologist (1 position)

Job Purpose: Supervised by the General Manager- Coffee. She/he will be responsible for conducting research, lab experiments and outdoors collecting specimens in the field and advice management on the most applicable methods of insect and pest management.

Key Duties and Responsibilities for the Position


  • Developing methods for preventing the importation and spread of destructive insects.
  • Discovering and cataloging new species of insects.
  • Investigating the role of insect pests in agriculture, forests, human health, and the environment.
  • Preparing publications that help identify different insect species.
  • Studying the evolution of insects and classifying them.
  • Conducting research about the control and impact of pest problems.
  • Developing and implementing pest management programs for agricultural locations.
  • Developing and recommending methods of controlling harmful insects.
  • Coordinating field and lab tests of pesticides to understand their effect on deferent insect species.


Job Specifications and Skills Requirements


  • Applicants must have a Bachelor of Science degree in Agriculture; specializing in Entomology, or related scientific fields, such as biology.
  • Knowledge of how to protect crops from nests without harming beneficial insect species like bees is required.
  • Should be able to develop new types of “integrated pest management” that uses some species to control others, reducing the need for pesticides.
  • At least 5 years work experience related to pest management and control.

Job Title: Safety, Health& Environmental SHE Officer (1 position).

Job Purpose

Promote a sustainable culture in the coffee plantation which full encompasses positive health & safety practices amongst management and workforce if as well as environmentally-sound operations on the farm. Adoption and adherence to internal policies and procedures as well as compliance towards international and national legislation in terms of occupational health & safety and environmental management is a must at Aviv plantations,

Key Duties and Responsibilities for the Position


  • Reporting & Control.. Periodic reporting and maintenance of data including incidence/accident, water monitoring data, meetings, accident report, energy usage, stock control for waste and any Olam global reporting indicators.
  • System and process controllership of maintaining PPEs issued to workers, loss tracking system, child labour tracking, first aid provision procedures, rotational training systems, establishing firefighting system.
  • Implementation of the Olam 6 Imperatives.
  • Business Partnership & Support through implementation of biodiversity management activities, tree planting/restoration program, proper demarcation and marking of buffer zones, regular training on the importance of environmental conservation and proper usage of PPEs, Regular cleaning & rinsing of PPEs to facilitate the hygiene of both workers & PPEs.
  • Regular risk assessment to identify potential hazards, communicate the risks identified to responsible managers and suggest corrective measures.
  • Learning & Growth/People development by creating awareness to workers regarding Health &Safety, environmental awareness on the sustainable management of water resource, biodiversity, wastes disposal and management of hazardous materials that are found in workplace.
  • Audits & Controls by following up on sustainability financial expenses from the account section. Audit preparation of all sustainability requirements.
  • Maintenance and implementation of robust corrective action plans work conditions and sustainable practices through consulting with management.


Job Specifications and Skills Requirements


  • At least 3 years hands on experience in sustainability environment) issues in an agriculture setting.
  • Excellent monitoring and evaluation skills
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Excellent negotiation and communication skills.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving and organizational skills.
  • Meticulous and dedicated.
  • Should be capable of acquiring and applying legal, technical and regulatory information.

Job Title: Assistant Field Officers (6 positions)

Job Purpose: Supervised by the Farm Manager- Coffee, he/she will be responsible for field extension work including ensuring adequate supply of inputs, training, and providing necessary statistical reports.

Key Duties and Responsibilities for the Position


  • To ensure that no fertilizer of low quality is distributed.
  • To ensure that timely arranging and planning of agriculture inputs
  • To coordinate stocking of fertilizer/plant protection measures at various points
  • To organize farmers training camps at village level
  • To report shortage of seedlings, fertilizer etc. if any, immediately, to the farm manager
  • To ensure full utilization of irrigation potential and identify gaps.
  • To supervise the crop cutting experiments and to impart the crop cutting experiments training to the field staff
  • To collect and maintain basic Agricultural Statistics including land utilization statistics


Job Specifications and Skills Requirements


  • Applicants must have a Diploma in Agriculture;
  • Knowledge of how field extension work in a Coffee farm/plantation is an added advantage.
  • At least 5 years work experience related to pet management and control.

Job Title: Electrician (1 position)

Job Purpose: Should be able to do the maintenance of all electrical related work of the coffee plantations, generator sets, motors, vehicle electrical works etc.

Key Duties and Responsibilities for the Position


  • Assemble, install, test, and maintain electrical or electronic wiring, equipment, appliances, apparatus, and fixtures, using hand tools and power tools.
  • Diagnose motor systems, apparatus, and components, using test equipment and hand tools, to locate the cause of a breakdown and correct the problem.
  • Connect wires to circuit breakers, transformers, or other components.
  • Inspect electrical systems, equipment, and components to identify hazards,
  • Advise management on whether continued operation of equipment could be hazardous.
  • Test electrical systems and continuity of circuits in electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures, using testing devices such as ohmmeters, voltmeters, and oscilloscopes, to ensure compatibility and safety of system.
  • Plan layout and installation of electrical wiring, equipment and fixtures, based on job specifications and local codes.
  • Prepare sketches or follow blueprints to determine the location of wiring and equipment and to ensure conformance to building and safety codes.
  • Install ground leads and connect power cables to equipment, such as motors.
  • Perform business management duties such as maintaining records and files, preparing reports and ordering supplies and equipment and provide preliminary sketches and cost estimates for materials and services
  • Repair or replace wiring, equipment, and fixtures, using hand tools and power tools.



Job Specifications and Skills Requirements


  • Applicants must have at least a Diploma in Electrical Engineering;
  • Knowledge of Electrical installation is an added advantage.
  • At least 5 years practical working experience as an Electrician.
  • Should be able to demonstrate safety precautions to be observed in the maintenance and installation of electronic equipment.

Job Title: Mechanic (1 position)

Job Purpose :' Perform the diagnostic, overhaul, adjustment, repair and maintenance of company vehicles and equipment; and repairs as needed; act as lead worker to other classified staff in the area; and perform related work as required.

Key Duties and Responsibilities for the Position


  • Diagnoses, repairs and overhauls engines, transmissions, components, electrical and fuel systems, etc. for various powered and rolling equipment such as, cars, trucks, tractors and excavators, farm equipment, and generators.
  • Performs tune ups, brake jobs' and other preventative maintenance on cars, trucks, tractors,excavators, and other powered rolling equipment: replaces common parts and makes adjustments.
  • Repairs cars, trucks, tractors and excavators and other engines.
  • Assists in the writing of specifications for acquisition of company vehicle spare parts.
  • Maintains appropriate service and repair records.
  • Researches, purchases and inventories equipment parts, mechanical and other supplies.
  • Responds to routine and emergency calls for repairs and service.
  • May train and direct the work of other classified staff in the area.


Job Specifications and Skills Requirements


  • Applicants must have at least a Diploma in Mechanical Engineering;
  •  At least 5 years' practical working experience in a reputable automobile work shop.
  • Thorough knowledge of the theory and complexities of automotive technology, care and operation of internal combustion engines as well as electric hybrids, current repair methods, materials and tools;
