Job Title: Jumbo Operator

Scope of Role

REPORTING RELATIONSHIP: This position reports to Shift Boss.

CONTEXT AND PURPOSE OF THE ROLE
The purpose of this role is to operate Jumbo drilling rigs for mine development and install ground support according to quality specifications safely and efficiently. Jumbo Operator is accountable for minimization of secondary breakage and over break and correct installation of ground support systems in accordance to the geotechnical plan.

ACCOUNTABILITIES OF THE ROLE
A Jumbo operator has the following accountabilities and authorities:

•    Accountable for the operation of a single andl or double boom jumbo drilling rig for underground development mining with installation of ground support; drilling holes into the walls and roofs of the underground mine shafts. These holes are used to bolt down and stabilise the mine by meshing the walls and roof.
•    Ensures execution of end to end drilling activities using a single! double boom jumbo drilling rig in the underground mines.
•    Mark up faces in accordance with geological, statutory and survey specifications inspects, cleans and washes working taceand general working area, checks and cleans bootlegs. Guards and blasts missed holes.
•    Inspects scales, rockbolts, screens and straps to achieve control of ground.
•    Checks condition of travelway, work area, and equipment and corrects any unsafe conditions.
•    Checks and lubricates LHO vehicle, bolting machine, jumbo drill and other machinery common to mining, and services with fuel, oils, coolants, etc.
•    Shoots grade and center line from pre-determined lines and determines location, spacing, number, inclination and depth of blast and bolt holes.
•    Operates LHD. vehicle to muck out rounds and to load broken material into trucks or rock passes or remucks at designated locations.
•    Sets up and operates various types of rock drills to drill blast holes, test holes, rock bolt holes and line plug holes, etc.
•    Installs and dismantles air and water lines, ventilation duct work and other service lines.
•    Makes repairs such as tightening side rods on rock drills, splicing hoses, tightening loose bolts, etc. Change ring shanks on jumbo and hydraulic hoses.
•    Procures blasting agents and accessories, loads, primes, times, connects rounds, checks and extends blasting lines, blows air, guards and blasts or sets up for centrally controlled blasting operations.

REQUIRED SKILLED KNOWLEDGE

Qualification:

•    Secondary School Certificate I Vocational Training! Apprenticeship in a related field I college program in heavy equipment operation
•    Basic electrical and mechanical knowledge of jumbo rigs
•    Blasting Ticket for Scheduled Mines and a qualification as an Artisan with solid underground operation experience as a Jumbo Operator

Experience:

•    3 years experience underground mining with Jumbo Drill machine.
•    Experience with Sandvik DD321-40 Twin Boom Jumbos with split feed will be highly regarded
•    Currently employed in an underground operation as a Jumbo Operator
•    Emergency Response Team experience and qualifications will be highly regarded.

Must have know/edge of

•    Demonstrated competency in operation of Jumbo Drill to required standards.
•    Detailed knowledge of the operation of twin boom split feed jumbo's
•    Basic electrical and mechanical knowledge of jumbo rigs
•    Ability to read mine plans and specifications for underground mining.
•    Ability to read and understand detailed survey prints and layouts

Job Title: Maintenance Planner

Scope of Role

REPORTING RELATIONSHIP:  This position reports to Maintenance Foreman.

CONTEXT AND PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

The purpose of the role is to conduct planning work for underground production team, accountable for the delivery of the planned performance of the department with zero injuries at the lowest practical unit cost. To specify the requirements for safely, correctly and efficiently completing approved work.

ACCOUNTABILITIES OF THE ROLE
The role holder has the following accountabilities and authorities
Preventive Maintenance:

•    Set up a routine of planned outages for preventive inspection and defect correction: Maintenance schedules should be developed in such a way that allows attention to items of infrequent examination to be spread over a specific maintenance session cycle. This allows the matching of the work to be done with a planned outage time. The outage time should be constant to' all shifts.
Breakdown Maintenance:
•    Breakdown maintenance should be attended as soon as they occur to correct the possible cause of the equipment failure. Maintenance must be done in a way that it doesn't affect the continued safe operation of equipment when the equipment fails in the mining cycle.
•    Maintenance team has to give priority to any breakdown maintenance so as to get equipment back into service as quickly as possible. In addition, maintenance personnel should always investigate the cause of the trouble in order to avoid or reduce a repetition of the problem.

Key Maintenance Planner Accountabilities:

•    Execute the "Plan Work" element
•    Comply with quality specifications and authority levels set out in the documentation.
•    Review-the Work Order Task Status Report on a daily basis: To assist in prioritizing planning work! to track upcoming work.
•    Plan approved work orders (within area of accountability) for resource procurement and execution prior to the Required by Date.
•    Engage With the work execution teams to contribute to planning details from those expected to do the work.
•    Incorporate work execution team input into planning packages.
•    Obtain sign-off on Work Packages from accountable Senior Supervisor.
•    Identify and escalate all critical issues that threaten the successful planning of work orders for completion by their required by date.
•    Plan work to minimize the impact on operating performance without exceeding the Required by Date for work completion.
•    Plan work to minimize the demand for resources without exceeding the required by Date for work completion. 
•    Specify resources and initiate the orders.
•    Work Packages must comply with applicable legislation. standards, policies and procedures,
•    Develop and use standard work packages to improve the efficiency of the planning process.

Technical Areas:
•    Support the Scheduling process by ensuring that all required resources are planned to ensure the purpose is met.
•    Liaise with specific Operations Department as well as services
•    Departments, on availability of equipment, tools and material for planning purposes.
•    Keeps managers informed about the maintenance work progress and share the information throughout. Provides well thought out, concise and timely oral and written information.
•    Maintain current knowledge of applicable legislation, standards, policies and procedures and attends standards meetings.

Risk assessment
•    In the creation and review of Work Packages an understanding and recording of associated risks and control measures is required.
Continuous Improvement
•    Actively identify systems and procedures regularly within the area to maximize effectiveness and efficiency within the Company,
•    Provide, initiate and co-ordinate continual improvement of Work Packages.

People coordination
•    Conduct training arid development to support the compliance within the team .
•    Conduct quality control to ensure standards are met.

Administration

•    Maintain user authorization and identification.

Job Title: Load Haul Dump (LHD) Operator

Scope of Role

Context and Purpose of the Role

LHD operator operates the LHD/vehicle (Underground Loading Machines) safely. efficiently and effectively and carries out its maintenance. Operates underground loading machine to load ore into shuttle.or mine car or onto conveyors. These may include power shovels. hoisting engines equipped with cable-drawn scraper or scoop. or machines equipped with gathering arms and conveyor.

Accountabilities of the Role
The LHD Operator has the following accountabilities and authorities:

•    Set up and operate drilling machine to bore designated pattern of blast holes in working face and charge explosive to blast down materials.
•    Operate LHD scoop to load ore from.draw points. drifts or working face and dump onto stationary rock breaker. conveyor or crusher.
•    Lever open loose material from roofs and move it into the paths of machines. using crowbars.
•    Move trailing electrical cables clear of obstructions, using rubber safety gloves.
•    Operate levers to rnove conveyor booms or shovels so that mine contents can be placed into cars or onto conveyors.
•    Advance machines in order to gather material and convey it into cars.
•    Start conveyor booms and gathering-arm motors. and operate winches to position cars under boom-conveyors for loading.
•    Keep equipments and working area clean at all times. Clean hoppers. and clean spillage from tracks. walks. driveways. and conveyor decking.
•    Inspect boarding and locking of open-top box cars and wedging of side-drop and hopper cars in order to prevent loss of material in transit.
•    Repairing and Maintaining construction machinery / Mechanical Equipment:
•    Servicing. repairing. adjusting. and testing machines. devices. moving parts. and equipment that operate primariily on the basis of mechanical (not electronic) principles. ,
•    Oil. lubricate. and adjust conveyors. crushers. and other equipment. using hand tools and lubricating equipment.
•    Replace hydraulic hoses. headliqht bulbs. and gathering-arm teeth. , '

CONTEXT AND PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

Mine Captain is accountable for the safe extraction of the mineral resource and associated waste development including ancillary developments and associated project work within the underground mihe, Ensuring safe working place for crews, cost-effective, on time and continuous mine production in all areas of the underground.

The Mine Captain Provides supervision of Underground Shift Supervisors, Surface Operation Supervisor and working in conjunction with the Mine Maintenance' Supervisor 'and Mine Technical Services groups,

ACCOUNTABILITIES OF THE ROLE
Mine Captain has the following accountabilities and authorities: '

•    Develop plan and organize work to achieve budgeted targets, Managing the mining operations to safely meet agreed organizational performance targets for mine production within agreed budgets and timescales;
•    Safely manage day-to-day underground and Surface mining operations including supervision of underground shift supervisors and
•    Surface Operation Supervisors: Promote safety behavioral and awareness for all employees;
•    Leads a team of supervisors in the coordination and execution of daily mining activities, including mucking, haulage, dewatering, conveyors, skipping of rock to surface;
•    Accountable for the alignment of underground production, development and construction crews. Work together as a team to achieve production goals and objectives:
•    Leads, organizes and directs the on-site underground development and production work; Maintains records of production, area mined, and location of employee's equipment;
•    Development and implementation of standard Operating Procedures. Organizes, prepares, performs and presents information and initiatives regarding OHS; ,

CONTEXT AND PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

Provide technical or maintenance services on various mechanical infrastructure systems and execute mechanical related projects to maintain equipment / facilities to the required performance. The purpose of the' role is to create, install, and fix boilers and vats that contain large quantities of gas or liquid. Boiler maker is normally involved in the design, construction, maintenance .or repair of different metal products by joining parts using a variety of welding methods, either manually or by using machines.

ACCOUNTABJLITIES
To accomplish most of the tasks successfully boilmaker has to;

•    Safely engaged in oxy acetylene gas torch set to cut or gouge steel plates and tubes
•    Use the gas tungsten arc welding ,shielded metal arc welding or gas metal arc welding to attach and mend the cut sections of tubes and steel plates

The following are the accountabilities of this role:

•    Ensure sufficient task analysis is completed to carry work out safely.
•    Always. use blueprints - read drawings, work orders and production schedules to determine locations, positions, or dimensions of parts and understands job instructions and specifications. '
•    Examine work for defects, and measure with straightedges or templates to ensure conformance with specifications.
•    Weld sections of iron, steel copper or other metals together-to form them into large tanks or boilers.
•    Repair, replace broken valves, pipes or joints, maintain and update older vessels and often replace components in boilers. ..
•    Regularly test and inspect boiler systems for leaks or defects; Inspect tubes, valves and other fittings for wear and test them for leaks. .

•    Ensure sufficient task analysis is completed to carry work out safely. Always adhere to Shanta Gold/ occupational health and safety guidelines.
•    Follow instructions from Boilermakers and perform routine maintenance on tools and equipment as required,
•    Carry tools, materials and work pieces to and from sites or workbenches
•    Hand tools to tradespersons and hole tools not immediately required
•    Assist in the selection and collection of appropriate materials, methods, equipment and tools necessary to complete the job.

CONTEXT AND PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

The purpose of this role is to coordinate Electrical maintenance programs and related activities. Supervising assigned skilled trades employees, implementing and maintaining electrical maintenance services within established Shanta Gold guidelines and standards; and performing skilled Electrical maintenance as needed.

ACCOUNTABILITIES

•    An. electrical foreman is in charge of large and complex projects that make use of many different electricians at the same time, and supervises the project as a' whole, from the large-scale down to the details. The following are the accountabilities and authorities for this role;
•    Assessing equipment, materials and labor needed to complete complex maintenance tasks for the purpose of ensuring that maintenance activities meet standards and resolve defined issues.
•    Plan, schedule, assign, supervise and participates in the repair and maintenance of electrical systems, equipment and fixtures.
•    Accountable for providing on-site direction and leadership for section employees in order to complete jobs within specific guidelines that include quality standards, time requirements and budget considerations.
•    Provides technical guidance and on-the-job training to assigned .employees on the safe operation of equipment and tools and proper work techniques and skills. necessary to complete work assignments.
•    Accountable for. material management and quality control.
•    Recommend equipment and supplies related to maintenance activities; prepare job cost estimates /or maintenance needs to include time, labor and material requirements. '
•    Performs visual inspections to determine maintenance requirements and determine appropriate-repair methods, inspecting installations for quality, making sure code standards are met, and ensuring job safety. '
•    Prepares and maintains reports and records related to work activities, to include yearly budget estimates and monitoring of expenditures.
•    Maintains a variety of manual and electronic files and records for the purpose of providing up-to-date reference and complying with regulatory requirements and established guidelines.
•    Enforces safety and work performance standards and regulations. .

Experience

•    Must complete an apprenticeship and have 4 -7 years of experience as an electrician
•    Minimum 4 years experience in industrial. electrical systems; in the installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems, equipment and fixtures using blueprints, schematics and sketches:

Must have knowledge of

Job Title: Batch Plant Operator

Reporting Relationship: This position reports to Shift Boss

CONTEXT AND PURPOSE OF THE ROLE
The batch plant operator is accountable for making quality concrete and providing it in a timely manner to the production crew ensures that all the concrete produced meet the. required specifications.

ACCOUNTABILITIES OF THE ROLE
The following are Batch Plant Operator accountabilities and authorities:

•    Oversee all plant operations, coordinate and monitor daily work load through the plant;
•    Calibrate batch plant on a daily basis. Schedule filling aggregate bunkers and cement silo;
•    Monitor plant cleanness, keep area around batch plant clean;
•    Operate the mixer truck and discharge the concrete. Clean and maintain the mixer truck on a regular basis;
•    QA/QC: Maintain the quality control by taking the samples and test as required, calculate the water/cement ratio to know the mixes capability and break the cylinders to test the strength of the concrete. Accurately complete all the required reports on time;
•    Oversee all maintenance ensure that all vehicles and equipments in safe and 'efficient operating condition;
•    Ensure that all Shanta Gold safety regulations and policies are followed at all times;
•    Observe company environmental regulations and policies, ensure that are properly fo~lowed.

REQUIRED SKILLED KNOWLEDGE
Qualification:

Experience:

•    3 - 5 years concrete batching experience in concrete ready mix

Job Title: Underground Jumbo Offsider

CONTEXT AND PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

The purpose of this role is to assist the Jumbo Operators in their daily operations. Particularly assisting the Operator's in their tasks for drilling and installation in the mine. Working ih a manual handling capacity, get involved in the set-up of machinery as well as cable, hydraulics and hosing work.

ACCOUNTABILITIES OF THE ROLE

•    Jumbo offsider has the following accountabilities:
•    Provide assistance to Jumbo Operators operating sandvik Drills, Sandvik Toro Truck, Integrated Toll Carrier, and IT Loader as well as offering general assistance to the Service Crew;'
•    Supply materials to the underground work areas and provide assistance to underground crews where required;
•    Delivery and pick-up of equipment and personnel to and from the development and production areas;
•    Keep the workplace clean: removal of rubbish from underground workings to approved tip areas;
•    Be available for adhoc tasks whenever occurred; ,
•    Provide commitment and leadership towards health and safety on site.

REQUIRED SKILLED KNOWLEDGE

Qualification:

•    Secondary School Certificate /Vocational Training/Apprenticeship, in a related field / college program in heavy equipment operation
•    A current and valid driver's license
•    A current certificate, license or qualification in Confined Space
•    Initial training, certification and self-development in underground mining will be highly regarded.

Job Title: Mine Surveyor

Scope of Role

BUSINESS Unit/FUNCTION: New Luika Gold Mine, Southwest Tanzania.
Reporting Relationship: This position reports to Senior Underground Surveyor.

CONTEXT AND PURPOSE OF THE ROLE
The purpose of the role is to assist Senior Mine Surveyor and the underground team in providing accurately and timely services to the mine.
Mine surveyor is accountable for preparing and updating the entire surface and underground plans of a mine. Plan' the direction and 'extent of all underground workings, and use advanced surveying techniques and instruments to give these directions underground.

ACCOUNTABILITIES OF THE ROLE

•    Mine Surveyor has the following accountabilities and authorities:
•    Safety: Be proactive in all aspects of operational safety based on Shanta Gold safety standards.

Survey data collection:
•    Execute pits and stockpiles field survey on weekly and monthly basis to enable accurate volumes to be calculated at the end of each month for financial cost report and grade control reconciliation.
•    Required to execute the survey field measurements for the volume computations for the earth/civil work.

Survey Instrument Calibration, Clean up and Handling:
•    To ensure accuracy of survey data, the survey instruments should be calibrated at least once per quarter and the results recorded into the survey instrument calibration file. Calibration has to be done to the standards specified in the instruments manuals.
•    Handle survey instruments properly and report to your manager immediately any damage or fault detection during the calibration, for repair.

Daily Survey Field and Office work:
•    Attend the survey assigned tasks assigned on a timely manner and to the required survey standards. Ensure that the survey fields measurements are downloaded and processed on time and kept in a proper survey directory in mining sever for the further use.
•    Assist in updating active pit faces for daily and weekly short term mining planning purposes and prepare a set out files from the design.
•    Check the instrument (GPS/Total Station) at known stations every day before starting any survey work and the GPS results downloaded and saved into a specified surVey directory in a server.
•    Survey dumps tipping toe and crest as required for updating dumps progress

Control Survey:
•    Take accurate field measurements during survey control points around the pits, to be used in computation of .control points coordinates. .
•    Trimble GPS fact static method (1 hour occupation time) should be used in determine lateral position of the beacons and leveling network survey using digital level instrument should be used to determine vertical position of beacons.
•    In case of aerial photographyidar survey project, you may require to do .pre/post marking of the ground control points, take measurements to the points coordinates computation.

Slope Stability Monitoring:
•    Take accurate prisms and laser scan measurements as per schedule and timely delivering of the data to the Geotechnical Section. Contact your manager for any technical problem with the survey monitoring systems.

Site Infrastructure Mapping:
•    Assist in' survey for new buildings, roads, utilities, dumps and pits extensions for regular updating of the site map.

Void Laser Scanning:
•    Whenever there is a need for scanning old undergrounds workings (voids), you will be required to collect the points clouds data with CALS. for creation and updating of void triangulation model.

Land Compensation Survey:
•    May be asked to execute field survey work, whenever there is a land compensation exercise. -

Training & Development:
•    Attend safety and professional training when required to do so and make use of it where applicable.

•    Required to familiarize and understand the following codes and procedures:

REQUIRED SKILLED KNOWLEDGE
Qualification:

•    Degree in Geodetic Engineering, Mine Surveying, Engineering
•    Surveyor equivalent is essential.
Experience:
•    At least 2 years of experience in Mining industries or Civil engineering projects'
•    It is also necessary for the incumbent to have experience in the mining or earth moving environment and knowledge of the survey software, instruments and practices.

Must have know/edge of

•    High level of proficiency with underground mining design and planning software packages.
•    Excellent communication and presentation skills written and oral;
•    Demonstrated ability to communicate with a variety of stakeholders including senior management, technical professionals and operational personnel at a senior level.
•    Strong planning and problem solving skills
•    Very strong knowledge of survey instruments used in mining underground operations

Job Title: Carpenter

SMCL-NLGM
PURPOSE: Carry out efficient maintenance and repairs to all domestic and industrial, furniture, wooden installations and building fitted with wooden fixtures .

RELATIONSHIPS:

Reports to: Estate Foreman


KEY RESULT AREAS:
The Carpenter is responsible for:

•    The effective manufacture, maintenance and management of new and existing furniture, and wooden installations at NLGM
•    To be able to design and manufacture basic furniture as and when required
•    The specific duties of the Carpenter are, but not limited to the following:
•    To evaluate the need of furniture or wooden installations at various NLGM offices and buildings;
•    To inspect the condition of installed furniture and wooden installations in offices and keep a record of the findings
•    To conduct repairs on damaged furniture and wooden equipment or installations and keep record of all findings and spares used on job requisitions:
•    To diagnose infestations of insects and conduct necessary preventative measures to protect such equipment safely and properly, .-
•    To give constant feedback regarding condition and repairs of equipment to Site Estate Foreman
•    Repair, manufacture and installation of furniture and wooden installations as Instructed by Site Estate Foreman,
•    Maintain a safe, clean and healthy working environment.
•    Report to Site Estate Foreman any irregularities that may be found during execution of your duties
•    Maintain a good working relationship with NLGM team.
•    Comply with all SMCL policies and procedures at all times.

Minimum Requirements:

•    Education: Secondary School leaving certificate.
•    Full FTC Certificate.

Experience: Minimum of 2 years experience as a Carpenter.

Skills: Carpenter must be skilled in the manufacture and repairs 'of all furniture and wooden installations must be competent to complete preventative maintenance and also to repair existing installations.

Job Title: Shotcrete Sprayer

Scope of Role

CONTEXT AND PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

Accountable for carrying out shotcrete spraying operations, operation of heavy mobile equipment and general mine service work in an underground environment.

ACCOUNTABILITIES OF THE ROLE

•    Shotcrete Sprayer has the following accountabilities:
•    Safe, effective and productive ,operation of the shotcrete machine in the application of primary ground support.
•    Provide a quality service focusing on the application of' primary ground support to a standard that exceeds the sites quality assurance compliance.
•    Maintaining the batch plant and surrounding areas to' a high standard.

REQUIRED SKILLED KNOWLEDGE

Qualification:
•    Secondary School Certificate / Vocational Training/ Apprenticeship in a related field / college program in heavy equipment operation
•    Have a valid driver's 'license
•    Current First Aid & CPR qualifications

Experience:
•    Previous experience with the operation of shotcreting machinery in an underground environment previous experience with the operation of Agitator trucks, batch plants and associated machinery'
•    Have previous experience in operating hydraulic equipment or drilling machinery
•    Underground mining and/or open cut mining experience is an advantageHave explosives experience
•    Prior concrete batching experience is an advantage
•    Experience on underground loader is an advantage
•    Have a strong work ethic with high attention to detail

Safety and Training Officer is to provide visible and high-level safety support to Shanta Gold employees, ensure the safe and efficient operation of Shanta Geld operation and associated infrastructure,

ACCOUNTABILITIES OF THE ROLE

•    Safety and Training Officer has the following accountabilities and' authorities:
•    Promotion of HSE throughout area of accountability:
•    To promote occupational healthy and safety within the mine site, section 'and 'other areas of safety accountability,
•    Advise management on how to increase worker participation in health and safety programs raising employee morale and reducing possible incidents,
•    Attend daily departmental tool box talks, committee meetings and to create safety awareness among all employees of the mine,
•    Maintain a proactive approach to all aspects of operational safety and encourage team work within the operations.
•    Inspection and reporting on HSE compliance:
•    Conduct inspections and write reports informing management which area may not be in compliance with company polices and legal requirements in order to gain support for addressing these areas.
•    To ensure that machinery and equipment meet appropriate safety underground regulations, through regular inspections and testing of such equipment.
•    To check' that personnel protective equipment supplied to the employees is being used in workplaces according to regulations and mine standards,
•    Investigate all injuries, incidents, near miss and unsafe conditions' reported, study possible' causes and recommended remedial actions to management. '
•    Carry out daily inspections in all your areas of accountability and report same to departmental managers and supervision, Ensure regular' inspections are conducted within all mining areas and supporting maintenance- facilities including those manned by contractors.
•    Ensure accident/incident investigations are expediently conducted and documented appropriately in relation to seriousness and high potentiality.
•    Provide on a monthly basis, a detailed report of activities and statistics conducted during the period to the Safety Superintendent / Safety & Environment Manager, -

Risk analysis:
•    Analyze work environments and design programs to control, eliminate and prevent diseases or injury caused by all health and safety factors including ergonomic factors that involve the impact of equipment design on 'workers comfort or fatigue.
•    To test and identify work areas for potential accidents and health hazards, to help develop implement appropriate control measures and also by employee participation/involving. And observing
•    Work as well'as inspecting elements ,in their work environment such as lighting tools and equipment.
•    Carry out a risk assessment with Managers involvement in all underground operation at least once quarterly.

Hazardous substance control:

•    To measure and control all hazards substances used on the mine through provision storage and stocking, handling and disposal.

Internal auditing on HSE:
•    Develop and implement internal audit program in accordance to
•    Safety Management program

Reporting:

•    Advise management on the cost effectivenes,s of safety and health programs for the site.
•    Frequent communication with management is necessary to report on the status of occupational health and safety programs.
•    Prepare monthly reports, incidents statistics, breaches and inspection reports or any other report requested for by management and also to analyze and give recommendations for' control and correction of hazards.
•    Training and training programs:
•    Develop occupational health and safety systems including policies, procedures and manuals.
•    Define training needs for the staff and assist in designing training programs to meet those needs
•    Conduct HSE training for all Shanta Gold employees including inductions

REQUIRED SKILLED KNOWLEDGE
Qualification:

•    Certificate of Secondary Education
•    Holds a current Tanzanian Blasting Certificate
•    Current and valid driver's license required
•    Emergency Response Team experience and qualifications will be highly regarded.

Experience:

•    A minimum of 7 years of underground operations experience
•    Currently or previously employed in an underground operation as a
•    HSE Coordinator
•    Extensive experience with charging and firing of both development and production blasts
•    Extensive experience in relation to installation of mine services' including vent ducting, pipes and pumps.

Must have knowledge of:

•    Detailed knowledge of the operation of development jumbos and underground diesel equipment,
•    Good understanding of HSE ground conditions.

Job Title: Electrician

Scope of Role
Region/Discipline:Tanzania

Business Unit/Function: New Luika Gold Mine, Southwest Tanzania

REPORTING RELATIONSHIP: This position reports to Electrical Foreman.

CONTEXT AND PURPOSE OF THE, ROLE

The context and purpose of this role is to assist the electrical foreman installing and maintaining' electrical systems. Accountable for establishing and ensuring ongoing supplies of power, witbin established Shanta Gold guidelines and standards, performing skilled Electrical maintenance as needed.

ACCOUNTABILITIES OF THE ROLE
The following are the accountabilities and authorities for

•    Repair and maintain all electrical equipment and process control as required. Complete tasks within specific guidelines that include quality standards, time requirements and budget considerations.
•    Maintain lighting, switches and electrical equipment in safe working order.
•    Install wiring and circuits for extensions and additions to mining work stations.
•    Install and extend HT and LT electrical infrastructure including .substations, distribution boards and starter boxes. Installation of cables of various sizes.
•    Installation and maintenance of positive displacement cavity pumps, submersible sump pumps and primary and secondary ventilation fans.
•    Carry- out electrical fitting, high voltaqe- switching and electronics. Regular electrical servicing and repairs to 1 OOOV development jumbo drills.
•    Maintain communications and telecommunications systems.

Follow safe work practices near electrical outlets, ensure, the regulations and working standards are applied all the time.
•    Read wiring diagrams to plan layout of wiring systems.
•    Install insulated cables and connect switches, outlets and other fittings; provide enough wiring systems for electrical plant.
•    Connect cables to circuit breakers, transformers, motors; heaters etc:
•    Test circuits, connect systems to power supplies, complete electrical calculations and test equipment ,using meters, and undertake high voltage switching.
•    Conduct regular statutory checks on electrical infrastructure to ensure compliance with regulations and general safe operation. Conduct risk assessment where repairs-are net-covered by standard procedures...
•    Maintain the workshop in a state of good housekeeping

REQUIRED SKILLED KNOWLEDGE
Qualification

•    Minimum qualification :Full technical Diploma I '
•    Electrician Apprenticeship/ Electrical Engineering
•    A recognized Trade .Certificate in Electrical
•    Computer literate with AutoCAD/Microsoft Projects IMS office
•    PLC exposure and certificate for Advanced course

Experience

•    Must complete an apprenticeship and have 4 -7 years of experience as an electrician
•    Minimum 3 years experience in industrial electrical systems; in the installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems, equipment and fixtures using blueprints, schematics and sketches.
•    Experience with HT and LT required, preferably 1000V on the LT side,

Must have knowledge of

•    Electrical system maintenance and repair; codes/laws/rules/regulations/policies; current and emerging electrical system installation and maintenance; and safety practices.
•    The approved methods, material, tools and equipment utilized in electrical installation and maintenance work . Electrical motor control circuits, ladder relay logic, process control instrumentation, generators and related electrical distribution systems.
•    The principles of electrical theory as applied to 'electrical circuits and distribution systems.
•    National electrical codes.
•    The occupational hazards and the proper safety precautions required of the work, Some knowledge of first aid, including CPR, Skill in the use of lineman tools and equipment utilized in the electrical trade,
•    Ability to follow written and oral instructions and to read and interpret blueprints, sketches and diagrams.
•    Ability to estimate manpower, time and material requirements for work assignments
